ViacomCBS Names Darío Turovelzky And Juan Ignacio Vicente To Lead Newly Acquired Chilevisión

On the heels of announcing the completion of its acquisition of Chilevisión,  ViacomCBS Networks Americas revealed who will be leading the newest network in its Latin American portfolio – and one the company considers to be a strategic asset for its expansion in the region.

Darío Turovelzky, General Manager of ViacomCBS South Cone, will expand his leadership role to oversee both Chilevisión and Telefé, Argentina’s free-to-air television network, as well as all ViacomCBS operations locally. Turovelzky, who joined the company in early 2017, will continue to report to JC Acosta, President of ViacomCBS International Studios and Networks Americas.

New hire Juan Ignacio Vicente “Iñaki” will be VP and Executive Director of Chilevisión. He arrives to  ViacomCBS from Chilean television station Mega, where he was Director of Content and International Business. He’ll report to Turovelzky.

“Under Darío’s leadership, Telefe has become the undisputed leader in free-to-air television in Argentina and has helped expand the ViacomCBS ecosystem; I have no doubt Chilevisión will thrive under his direction,” said Acosta in a statement. “I am equally as excited to have Iñaki onboard. With his distinctive track record in programming and leading teams in Chile, he is the perfect choice to lead Chilevisión and to create a perfect stronghold to support the local linear and streaming ViacomCBS ecosystem.”

With free-to-air television networks still popular in Latin America, ViacomCBS sees the integration of Chilevisión as a way to strengthen and expand its scale in the region by aligning and maximizing commercial, content and streaming strategies to create what it calls a “one-of-a-kind FTA Hub.”

Combining Telefé and Chilevisión’s content libraries and extensive production capabilities will expand studio, streaming, and linear presence in the South Cone region. It will also fortify ViacomCBS’s position as a global producer of Spanish-language content through VIS, ViacomCBS International Studios. Chilevisión will also provide added value to Pluto TV and its premius service Paramount Plus.
