Two groups in the first round: T20 World Cup is starting from 16 October. The first round matches will start from this day. These can also be called qualifying rounds because only those 8 teams will participate in this round, which have not qualified in the Super-12 of the World Cup. Out of these 8 teams, the top-4 teams will reach the Super-12 round.
Group-A: Netherlands, Sri Lanka, UAE, Namibia
Group-B: Ireland, West Indies, Scotland, Zimbabwe
Here each team will play one match each with the other three teams of their group. A total of 12 matches will be played. All these matches will be played from 16 to 21 October. After these matches, the teams which will be in the top two positions in both the groups will reach the Super-12 round.
There will also be two groups in the Super-12 round: There are also two groups in the Super-12 round. There are currently 4-4 teams in both these groups. In these groups, 2-2 teams will join after the first round. In this way, there will be 6-6 teams in each group. Here each team will play one match each with the other 5 teams of their group. That is, every team will get a chance to play 5-5 matches. After all the matches, the top-4 teams of both the groups will advance to the semi-finals.
