Anwar Ibrahim Becomes The New Prime Minister Of Malaysia See His Political Career

Anwar Ibrahim: Malaysia’s political upheaval has now come to an end. Political uncertainty was being seen when no party got a clear majority in the general elections. However, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmed Shah of Malaysia has put an end to this. He has declared opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as the new Prime Minister of the country. The Pakatan Harapan alliance led by Anwar Ibrahim got the maximum 82 seats.

There was a close fight between Muhyiddin Yasin’s alliance and Anwar Ibrahim’s alliance. Anwar’s Alliance of Hope won 82 seats in the 222-member parliament, while the National Alliance, led by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, managed only 73 seats. The United Malays National Organization (UMNL), led by the outgoing Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yacoub, has been badly rejected by the public.

Who is Anwar Ibrahim?

Anwar Ibrahim will take oath as the 10th PM of Malaysia. He has been the deputy PM of the country in the 1990s. However, the then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad had thrown him out of the government in 1998, blaming him for the economic crisis in the country.
