A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “The civilian balloon from China, mainly used for meteorological research, deviated from its intended course due to gusts of wind.” The spokesperson further said, the Chinese side will continue dialogue with the US side and properly handle the unforeseen situation. The Associated Press had already quoted US officials as saying that the US was tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon. It has been seen in the airspace of America.
Pentagon gave information
In fact, on Friday (February 3) evening, information was given by issuing a statement in this regard from the Pentagon. The Pentagon says that another Chinese spy balloon is flying over Latin America. We believe that this could be China’s second spy balloon.
China has given clarification earlier also
China had earlier clarified that it is a civil balloon and is for weather research work. At the same time, the Pentagon had outright rejected this claim of the Chinese government and clearly said that this balloon is being used for espionage.
However, it was not clear where the balloon was in the US. According to a defense official, the US Northern Command is coordinating with NASA to determine what damage could be caused by the debris if the balloon floating over the US was shot down.
