On September 13, 22-year-old Mehsa Amini was detained by police in Iran, alleging that she was not wearing the hijab properly. Mahsa died on 16 September in a hospital in Tehran. Since then, protests started across the country. During this many people were killed. To register their protest, the girls and women studying in the school protested by taking off the hijab. Apart from this, many people also cut their hair. According to the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR), 100 people lost their lives during this period.
