The Independence release on OTT – Shershaah has been wining hearts nationwide. The biopic on Captain Vikram Batra has been loved by all and Sidharth Malhotra is wining accolades and rave reviews for his matured performance. However did you know that when the film was on scripting stage and the producer Shabbir Boxwala was approaching studios and banners, Salman Khan was keen to back this project.
Today Shabbir Boxwala gives to a leading daily and spills some beans behind the making of Shershaah. For those who don’t know the film has taken 5 years in its making and the producer is happy with the results and it has truly been worth the wait. Boxwala had got the rights from the Batra family to make a biopic on Vikram Batra and Salman khan showed a keen interest to back this film. Infact the superstar wanted his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma to make his debut with this one.
Boxwala was in a fix as he had already spoken to the Batra family and suggested Sidharth Malhotra’s name. He tells the daily that the entire family had unanimously agreed for the actor to play the braveheart on screen and hence he felt it would have been unethical to drop the actor. He further adds that since the Batra family had showed immense trust in him, he didn’t want to take any wrong step. Salman Khan was quick to understand his predicament and so did Aayush Sharma, who realized that playing a double role in his debut film might be a tall order.
Well, whatever happens, happens for the best. Shershaah has been getting rave reviews for its great performances and writing and fine storytelling. The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan and written by Sandeep Shrivastava.
