Sri Lanka Independence Day: Sri Lanka, an island country located in the Indian Ocean to the south of India, celebrated the 75th anniversary of its independence. On this occasion, a military parade was taken out with a 21-gun salute. At the same time, President Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed the countrymen. The Sri Lankan President emphasized on correcting our mistakes and failures and reviewing our strength as a nation.

President Wickremesinghe today said Sri Lanka must rectify its “mistakes and failures”. He delivered this speech on Saturday, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of independence, at a time when Sri Lanka is facing an unprecedented economic crisis. Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe gave a speech

Today Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe said that our 75th anniversary of independence from colonial rule is being celebrated in the country at a very important and challenging time. President Wickremesinghe also gave a speech on the day of this Independence Day celebration. Then he said, “Sri Lanka has a new economic and social reform agenda, which aims at the restoration of the economy and then renewed development.” He said that it is necessary for us to unite for its implementation, so that we can To achieve economic prosperity.

Muralitharan praised India

During the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence, many foreign dignitaries including India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan were present. At the same time, Muraleedharan explained the importance of Indo-Sri Lankan relations. He said today that we are ‘friendly neighbours’. He said, “We are very happy to represent India in the 75th Independence Day celebrations of Sri Lanka. This achievement has been achieved on the occasion of completion of 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. India has always been a reliable friend of Sri Lanka.

Opposition targeted the government

During the Independence Day celebrations in Sri Lanka, the opposition leaders also pulled up the ruling party. Actually, this ceremony took place despite the criticism of the opposition parties. Opposition parties said that the ceremony would cost Rs 20 crore, which would be a waste of money for a country facing its worst economic crisis since independence.

India gave $ 3.9 billion in aid to Sri Lanka

Last year, India provided $ 3.9 billion in aid to Sri Lanka to help it deal with the economic crisis.
