1. Web Series Aashram
An MX Player original series starring Bobby Deol, Aashram is everything that a Prakash Jha movie has: politics, democracy, religion with twists and turns. The show revolves around Kashipur wale Baba Nirala (Bobby Deol), a self proclaimed godman and how people blindly follow him. The story continues with women going missing and somehow the missing women end up being linked to the Baba. In season 2 the Baba’s dark secrets come to light when a sub-inspector investigates. Prakash Jha’s debut in the digital world is surely action-packed and binge worthy.
2. Web Series Aspirants
A TVF original, Aspirants is an inspirational web series which revolves around the lives of all UPSC aspirants living in Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi. Running in two different timelines the show revolves around three friends, Abhilash (Naveen Kasturia), SK (Abhilash Thapliyal) and Guri (Shivankit Parihar). The flashback scenes show the struggles and hope of all UPSC aspirants, while the present shows the consequences of the choices made in the past. While the three friends prepare for the UPSC, only Abhilash succeeds, while Guri runs his father’s shoe factory and SK becomes a teacher.
3. Web Series Broken But Beautiful 3
As the name suggests the show is about unrequited love. The story revolves around a toxic relationship between Agastya (Sidharth Shukla) and Rumi (Sonia Rathee). While Rumi is a rich spoilt brat who is obsessed over her childhood crush Ishann, Agastya is a struggling theater director and when the two meet sparks fly instantly. You can surely watch this if you are willing to watch a romantic-drama.
4. Web Series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives
If you’re looking for something light and entertaining you should surely watch this show. The reality show flows around the lives of actor Neelam Kothari and bollywood wives Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor and Seema Khan. Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives shows us the bond the four friends share and how the wives live an extravagant life. We even saw a cameo by King Khan, Gauri Khan and many other bollywood celebs.
5. Web Series The Family Man 2
Ever since the first season was released on Amazon Prime in 2019, the fans have been waiting for the second season of The Family Man. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani and Samantha Akkineni the story revolves around the “family man” Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) who’s secretly working as an intelligence officer for the T.A.S.C. struggling to balance his family and his demanding professional life, while he faces his new nemesis Raji, a terrorist. The Family Man Season 2 has received a lot of positive response and the fans are loving it.
6. Web Series Maharani
A political drama does get you hooked to the screens and this one’s no different. A Sony LIV original the story follows the life of ruling chief Minister of Bihar, Bheema Bharti (Sohum Shah) who gets injured and goes on to declare his wife Rani Bharti (Huma Qureshi) as the CM. From taking care of household chores to ruling the state, the show Maharani series shows her struggles with dealing with politics. It is interesting to watch as the story unveils the mysteries about Rani’s life and how she manages to rule the state despite all the odds.
7. Web Series Masaba Masaba
Starring the mother-daughter duo Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta the show gives us a peek into the fashion and Hindi film industry. The series shows Masaba Gupta who runs her own fashion label and how fake news about her divorce eventually turns out to be true. While Neena Gupta deals with not getting good roles because the Hindi film industry does not develop meaty roles for veteran actors. Masaba Masaba shows us how both Masaba and Neena Gupta deal with the hardships faced in their careers and personal lives.
8. Web Series Mismatched
If you’re a person who loves rom-coms then you should definitely watch Mismatched. Released on OTT platform Netflix, starring the ever so charming Rohit Saraf and the beautiful Prajakta Koli, the show follows Rishi (Rohit Saraf) who believes in old-fashioned love and longs for a relationship like that of his grandparents. He tries to woo Dimple (Prajakta Koli) , an ambitious girl who aspires to become an app developer. The chemistry between the two is what makes the viewers fall in love with the show and is perfect if you’re looking for something short and sweet.
9. Web Series Scam 1992
Directed by Hansal Mehta, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story is one of the best Indian web series we’ve ever come across. From the acting to the storyline everything in this show was directed to perfection. The show revisits the story of one of India’s biggest financial frauds. Pratik Gandhi portrays the role of Harshad Mehta and how he rises from the ground and becomes the “Big Bull” of the Mumbai stock market. We cannot stop but praise Pratik for his mind blowing performance.
10. Web Series Tandav
This thriller political drama is an Amazon Original series starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub. The show follows the lives of Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) who feels ready to inherit the throne of his political father Devi Nandan Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia). But Anuradha Kishore (Dimple Kapadia) and many other party associates consider themselves fit to run the political throne. A parallel story of campus activist Shiva Shekhar (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub) who becomes an icon overnight at a political event, now aspires to bring change in the political scene. The series shows how the paths of the two young leaders cross. If you’re into shows about politics and power you should definitely watch Tandav.
