Video Stand Collapses During Colombia Bullfight, 4 Killed, Over 300 Injured

Video: At least four people have been killed and more than 300 injured when a stand collapses during a bullfight in central Colombia. The video of this accident has become increasingly viral on social media.

It shows dozens of people teasing and playing a bull during the popular game called Corralejo when suddenly, three floors of the stand collapse, trapping hundreds of men, women and children.

Drone footage of this horrific incident is also going viral in which it is seen that after the fall of the stand, there is chaos at the spot. While a bull keeps roaming in the arena. As people shouted, some jumped out of their seats and rushed to help, trying to separate the wood and other debris.

In the traditional Corallejo event, members of the public entered the ring to fight the bulls. The tragedy occurred in El Espinal, a small town about 95 miles southwest of Bogota. Every year, the mayor’s office and private parties in the area organize events to celebrate St. Peter’s on 29 June.

The stand was made from gudua bamboo
According to the Washington Post, the bullring (stand) was made of gussaw bamboo, and several levels were filled with spectators. Speaking to the outlet, the head of the regional civil protection agency said, “The structure of Gadua bamboo is very unstable. The organizers should have guessed that this could happen.”

Another civil defense official, Luis Fernando Velez, said he did not know how many people were still buried under the rubble.

Coralges will be banned
The governor of the Tolima Department, Jose Ricardo Orozco, has also said that the departmental government will take steps to ban the Corlejus. He said that the incident was dangerous and it encouraged animal abuse.
